Every piece of Quail Lane Press artwork is 100% hand-drawn by the artist using drawing pens, ink, and paper — and then hand-printed on a vintage letterpress in our Milwaukie, Oregon studio. No AI tools are used anywhere in our creative process: not for generating images, not for assisting with design, not for layout, not for anything. The artist sits down with reference maps and topographic data and draws each line by hand. That drawing is then physically pressed into cotton paper on a mechanical press built decades before AI existed. Desolation WIlderness

I'm so happy to finally get started on this map of one of my favorite places: the Desolation Wilderness area. When we resided in Tahoe we basically lived down the street from this amazing hiking and backpacking area. I spent every chance I could exploring all the beautiful clear blue lakes and granite peaks. I am doing this map in the same style that I made the John Muir Trail map.
