Originially named "Bahía de los Pinos" by spanish explorers after its windswept Monterey pines, Monterey Bay is located just south of San Francisco. Famed for its sublime beauty, the area of coastline from Monterey to Big Sur is home to many species of marine mammals, including sea otters, harbor seals, and bottlenose dolphins; as well as being on the migratory path of Gray and Humpback Whales.
This map was hand drawn, converted into a relief plate, then printed on an old fashioned letterpress. The shorelines and coastline of each map are then painted with watercolor.
This map is printed in a limited edition on 100% cotton paper. Each is then hand tinted with light blue watercolor to accentuate where the land meets the sea.
Each is signed, numbered, and dated.

This map will be carefully packed in a cellophane sleeve, nestled between two pieces of sturdy cardboard, and shipped in a firm flat mailer.
