I really love the fact that in 3 hours we can drive from Portland to a place that feels very much like a completely different environment. I'm referring to the high desert of Central Oregon, where cities like Bend are found.
This area has been a source of inspiration for my charts and other artwork, a vacation destination, and a sunny refuge from the long rainy winters here on the west side of the Cascades.
Here are a few shots from my last visit there. It was a bit hazy from a nearby fire while we were there but in a way smokey air really exaggerated all the wonderful shades of browns, greens and deep reds all around.
